Cover for Sany excavators, cranes, telehandlers and concrete pumps.
Sany has moved from a fringe import to a common sight on Australian sites, particularly in excavators and truck-mounted concrete pumps. The insurance question that comes up most is valuation, because newer entrants have a shorter local resale history and agreed value and market value can settle quite differently. Dealer coverage is also thinner outside the capital cities, which affects repair time.
Sany is a Chinese manufacturer with a broad Australian range: hydraulic excavators from mini classes upward, truck-mounted and stationary concrete pumps, mobile and crawler cranes, telehandlers, rollers and wheel loaders. Machines are commonly bought new at a lower entry price than the Japanese and European majors, and they appear frequently in hire fleets and owner-operator civil businesses.

Boom, outrigger and pipeline damage on truck-mounted pumps, which is usually rated separately from the truck.
Cover toward the cost of a replacement machine while yours is repaired, subject to the policy terms.
A blockage in the delivery line on a truck-mounted pump releases suddenly and the boom whips, damaging boom sections and spraying concrete over vehicles below. Damage to the pump, the truck under it and the third-party property below usually sit in three different places in the policy.
A pump truck sets up on a residential kerb for a slab pour and the outrigger pad collapses the footpath and the stormwater lintel beneath it. Council infrastructure damage is generally a liability matter and councils are usually thorough about pursuing reinstatement costs.
A two year old excavator is written off and the settlement argument becomes what it is actually worth, because there are few comparable local sales to point to. Settling the valuation basis at inception rather than at claim time is usually the way to avoid this.
Underwriters generally look at value, parts availability, repair time and resale evidence rather than at the badge. Newer entrants can attract more questions about valuation and parts lead times, particularly outside capital cities, and that can influence the downtime discussion. It is workable, but the valuation basis is worth settling carefully at the start.
Registration and compulsory third party generally relate to the vehicle and road use, not to the pump body, boom and pipeline mounted on it. Those components are commonly insured separately and rated on their own exposures, including boom damage and pumping liability. It is worth confirming which policy covers which half of the unit.
It is worth pricing both ways. Agreed value fixes the settlement figure up front and removes the argument about local comparable sales at claim time, which some owners of newer brands prefer. Market value can be cheaper but leaves the valuation to be determined after a loss. A broker can show how each would settle on your machine.
It depends on the machine and how it is used. The main drivers are machine value and the basis it is insured on, parts availability in your region, whether the work is civil, hire or owner-operator, machine age and hours, and claims history. Concrete pumps are usually assessed separately from excavators and loaders.
